Thanks to a $500 grant from the Neighbourhood Small Grants Program from the Salt Spring Foundation, we have levelled the floor of our gathering shelter. The smooth gravel surface will allow us to hold open houses on water conservation, organic gardening, pollinator plants, and more. The new gravel floor was also an opportunity to add a lattice wall for public open house information and posters, and on the back side; a hanger rack for commonly-owned tools and watering cans.
We are starting the 2019 gardening season with several plots available for rent. Gardeners are asked to allow overwintering brassicas to go to seed and flower as a source of food for early pollinators.
We have dismantled the existing ramshackle storage and compost structures, and will be rebuilding these. Please contact Jane Petch if anyone knows of a small storage shed suitable for the lawn mower. Jane Petch 537-0880 or jlpetch@gmail.com
